My wife and I plus Keira the dog stayed last year when we were down on Exmoor for the English Nation Sheep Dog Competition. Wonderful hospitality, excellent food, beer and wine and a truly dog friendly establishment.

Made to feel instantly welcome on arrival by Nick and Janice with a lovely home made cake and much needed pot of tea.
The Inn / Hotel has that feel of authenticity that seems increasingly difficult to find these days. The relative isolation of Simonsbath is part of it's appeal. I only live in Taunton, but it feels a world apart, and that's a good thing as far as I am concerned. Rugged countryside, intersting walks and beautiful views. There is a real sence of rural community with a definite bias towards outdoor and sporting activities. This theme is reflected in the way the hotel is furnished and run. Welcoming and comfortable residents lounge and my double bedroom was eveything that I needed.
I had a very good evening meal starting with a meat terrine ( v good ) , followed by fillets of sea bass , fish dishes I understand are one of the chef's specialities , ( exceptional ), and then Bakewell tart ( yummee!). Good quality selection of sensibly priced wines but I would have liked the option of one or two more ales.
Breakfast was ' historic' , if I can borrow one of Michael Winners's infrequently used descriptions.
A real ' getaway' right on my doorstep. Keep it up. 'I'll be back'....now who said that?

Stayed at The Exmoor Forest Inn for 2nights in February. Lovely location, lovely hotel. Hospitality and food excellent. Would definately stay again.

Had a lovely weekend - the weather was fantastic for February, the room comfortable and warm, the food was delicious - the location is superb ideal for walking on the mooors or over the coast. Can we echo the comments of Tina and Jamie, and commend Nick and Jan for a very relaxing stay. We were almost hoping the snow would stop us from returning to Gloucester! I am sure we will return and we will definitely recommend you to our friends.

We have just got back from a nights stay at a very snowy Exmoor Forest Inn. We would like to thank Nick and Jan for being such great host's, The room was fantastic roomy clean and very comfortable, the food was outstanding and the friendly atmosphere in the cosy bar was great. We stayed at the Exmoor Forest Inn on 6th January when we found ourselves stranded on Exmoor during the snowy weather. In the middle of Exmoor and in the picturesque village of Simonsbath, this was a lovely place to be snowed in!
Nick was a tremendous host and made us feel really welcome and we enjoyed our evening in the cosy bar. The food and the hospitality were great and we are definitely looking forward to a return visit soon.
